How to Change App and Folder Icons in macOS
As far as this guide is concerned, we will use the Desktop folder as an example but don’t worry as the process remains the same for any other folder, app, or even website bookmark.
With the addition of App Library in iOS 14, you can tuck away individual app icons or entire Home screen pages for that matter. Nothing’s messing with your vibe anymore! To hide an app icon from home screen, tap and hold the app for a couple of seconds until it starts to jiggle. Then, tap the ‘Remove’ icon (- sign).
Step #1. Very first thing you’ll need to do is select any image of your choice and copy it to the clipboard by double clicking thepicture to open it in Preview. Now click on Edit→Select All. Next, press Command + C Mac weather app review. to copy the image to clipboard.
Step #2. To locate the Desktop folder, ensure you are in Finder and press Shift + Command + H. Alternatively, you may also click on Go from top bar and then click on Home.
Step #3. Right click on the Desktop folder icon/name and select “Get Info“.
Step #4. On the info panel of the folder, click on the folder icon located at the upper-left corner.
Step #5. All you need to do now is to paste the image we copied in the first step by pressing Command + V.
You can repeat the same process for any folder. To restore the original image follow Step #3, Step #4 and now press Command + X to cut the image and it will automatically restore the original default image.

For changing app icon on Mac, you’ll need to access Application folder by looking for it in Finder and then select any App for which you wish to customize the icon. Thereafter, follow on from Step #3.
Note: For changing the icon of an in-built app (like Safari), you will need to enter your Mac’s password.

Use the App Library to find your apps
From your Home Screen, swipe left until you see the App Library. Your apps are automatically sorted into categories. For example, you might see your social media apps under a Social category. The apps that you use most frequently will automatically reorder based on your usage. When you install new apps, they'll be added to your App Library, but you can change where new apps get downloaded.
Search for an app in the App Library
- Go to the App Library.
- Tap the search field, then enter the app that you're looking for.
- Tap the app to open it.
Delete an app from the App Library
- Go to the App Library and tap the search field to open the list.
- Touch and hold the app icon, then tap Delete App .
- Tap Delete again to confirm.
Find and hide pages on your Home Screen
With iOS 14, you can easily hide pages to streamline how your Home Screen looks and add them back anytime. Here's how:
- Touch and hold an empty area on your Home Screen.
- Tap the dots near the bottom of your screen.
- Tap the circle under the page that you want to hide.
- Tap Done.
To unhide a page, repeat the steps above. Then use the App Library to quickly find apps hidden on different pages.

Instead of hiding a page on your Home Screen, you can move individual apps from the Home Screen to the App Library. Here's how:
- Touch and hold the app.
